Community Engagement Team

The Community Engagement Team is comprised of the Alliance, the Minnesota Center for Neighborhood Organizing and Nexus Community Partners. Originally formed as part of the Twin Cities region’s Corridors of Opportunity initiative, we continue to support community engagement strategies that ensure low-income people, people of color, people with disabilities and new immigrants are included in our region’s transitway planning.

In 2016, the Community Engagement Team partnered with Metro Transit to provide engagement expertise for the Better Bus Stops campaign. The CET awarded contracts to 11 local organizations to engage transit riders and historically underrepresented communities around bus stop and bus shelter enhancements and transit equity issues in general. The CET, subcontracted organizations, and Metro Transit formed a cohort to build relationships, share information, and interpret the feedback received across 22 neighborhoods.
