Rescuing Transit One Line at a Time

Despite strong support from the business community and local elected officials, the Metropolitan Council announced Monday that the Southwest Light Rail Transit (SWLRT) project has incurred $19 million in cost delays. Those costs will increase each week that the final local funding is not secured.

In addition, the Orange Line BRT project faces an uncertain future. Both projects are essential amenities to our region’s future and their being at-risk highlights the need for the state legislature to prioritize investments across the transit system instead of taking a piecemeal approach to securing the Twin Cities’ economic vitality into the future.
