We are deeply saddened and angered by the assassination of Minnesota House Speaker Emeritus Melissa Hortman and her husband, the attack on Minnesota Senator John Hoffman and his wife, and the targeting of other leaders and reproductive justice advocates across Minnesota. We send our love and solidarity to everyone impacted.

We condemn this political violence and the underlying systems that have allowed it to occur. We are witnessing how these systems of white supremacy, misogyny, and authoritarianism–emboldened and sanctioned by the current administration and its supporters– stoke embers of hate into flames of violence towards people that advocate for equity and justice. 

The Alliance will continue to advocate for policies and investments that create the conditions for Black, Indigenous, and people of color, immigrants and refugees, to thrive across the Twin Cities. We remain steadfast in our commitment to organize across difference, to build power, fight oppression, and advance collective liberation.
