25 Reasons to Give to the Alliance TODAY!
There are so many impactful groups across the Twin Cities to support on Give to the Max Day today, including the more than 30 community-based member organizations of the Alliance. But this year is special for us. We’re celebrating our 25th Anniversary and a leadership transition. In honor of this milestone, Russ Adams and Joo Hee Pomplun give you 25 reasons to put the Alliance on your giving list today!
The Alliance plays a unique role in the organizing landscape.
We work at the intersections of critical issues like affordable housing, transit and environmental justice.
In deep relationship with partners across the Twin Cities, we advance racial equity and social justice at the regional level
We convene coalitions to amplify the power of grassroots organizing and community-based organizations.
And center the voices of those most directly impacted.
We bring organizers and stakeholders together to share ideas and strategies through our Actualizing Equity series
And create tools that propel our collective efforts, like the Alliance Regional Equity Agenda
We build power and solidarity among organizations led by and centering people of color through Equity in Place
And promote authentic community engagement through the Equitable Development Principles and Scorecard
We hold state and local leaders accountable to workforce hiring goals for workers of color
And call out, uproot and shift racist and problematic narratives in the media and policymaking spaces
Over the past 25 years, we’ve played a role in local wins, from Brooklyn Park to Eden Prairie to the passage of tenant protections in Minneapolis this year
And advanced regional equity at the Metropolitan Council, including the creation of an Equity Advisory Committee
We’ve helped to secure funding at the state level for affordable housing and transit
And connected local leaders to the national network of organizers and stakeholders at the biennial PolicyLink Equity Summit
We’re policy nerds
And scorecard enthusiasts
Communicators
And coalition organizers
And now we’re in a movement moment
In 2019, after 24 years of leadership, Russ left the Alliance
And Joo Hee stepped in as our new Executive Director
