2026 has been a year of historic challenges. We are witnessing systems that put profit before people drive disinvestment in our communities and displacement from our homes. The federal occupation of our neighborhoods has reaffirmed that in the face of adversity, we take care of us, and that the power of local organizing has far-reaching impacts.

Here at The Alliance for Metropolitan Stability, 2026 has been a year of organizational change and growth: our executive director stepped down, and the Alliance board of directors and staff have stepped up to carry out our vision for a vibrant and equitable Twin Cities region. We’re not in it alone: it takes the strength and collective power of all of our member organizations and coalitions to ensure growth and development decisions, policies, and investments are centered in the needs and expertise of low-wealth people and Black, Indigenous, Immigrant, and People of Color.

Today, we are proud to announce that staff members Owen Duckworth and David Trinh will serve on our leadership team as interim Co-Directors. 

Together, Owen and David bring decades of personal and professional experience to the table; both grew up in BIPOC immigrant families and know firsthand what it means to fight for racial justice in the Twin Cities. Owen has been at The Alliance for 14 years. Raised in a multi-racial immigrant family, he developed a deep interest in how race and power have shaped people and communities. He has a passion for dismantling racism in systems of housing, public transit, and economic development throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul region and beyond. Owen has helped to build and grow Equity in Place, The Alliance’s BIPOC-led housing justice coalition, and has been integral to significant wins on housing investments and tenant protections in the region and the state. Recently, he has led the Alliance’s Actualizing Equity series and Stable Ground program. 

David joined The Alliance in 2025, and specializes in operations and financial management, while staying grounded in a commitment to equity, representation, and building spaces where every voice is valued and heard. As a first-generation American, David sees how public programs, advocacy, and policy change can transform lives. His experiences navigating these systems have fueled his commitment to ensuring that organizations—especially those serving historically underrepresented communities—have the tools to continue their vital work.
